Hello and Welcome to GFR! I'm Nina SAHM to my two little ones and one of the owner/admins here. My husband and I were planing on starting a compost heap in our back yard this year as well. I think we may just buy a one of those bin things from Menards or something, Anyway. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. Maybe you could share you laundry detergent recipe with us sometime? I'd be interested in hearing it.

Thank you for the warm welcome. I used to be very involved with the groups on Myspace but then everyone seemed to move to FB and the groups died. I hope I have found a new place to share, vent, laugh and learn with wonderful people. If The. Mrs loves it here I am sure I will also. My husband was worried the compost was going to be really smelly but with lots of research I learned as much as I could about it. As long as we have the right amount of air, greens, browns, and water it smells like fresh dirt. We have been pleased with it. I used the liquid laundry detergent recipe from Michelle Duggar. Made a lot and works great.

be careful with any of those Duggar family recipes....if fertility boosts are hiding anywhere, I bet it's in the soap.

WELCOME!!! hey, I just started to compost this year too! My husband doesn't care about the smell. With 2 dogs, 8 cats (4 inside, 4 outside), 3 ponies, a rabbit and 4 goats, plus a teenager.... well, smell is something we are used to. yay farm life, lol. Of course all those animals help add to the compost. At least the herbivore ones do.
Anyhoooo, I'm Pony, another admin here. (Lorna Violet on FB)
I live in the middle of no where and for fun I knit, read, feed animals, vacuum up pet hair and nap. Speaking of which, time to feed the critters before they start to complain!
